Workplace Satisfaction

Improvement Over The Past Year

Understanding the Issue

Understanding the Issue

This theme measures employees’ overall attitude toward their organization as a workplace. This is typically set at the beginning of the survey to avoid any bias from the remaining questions in the survey.

This is a broad measurement, representing employee sentiments about their workplace in general. It measures employees’ feelings about their own individual experience in the workplace rather than their belief in the success or direction of the organization. (see I am proud to work at my company and I am optimistic about the long-term success of my company)

This is separate from the Employee Net Promoter Score (eNPS) “Recommend as a place to work”, which is a measure of overall employee engagement. (see The Importance of eNPS)

Recommended Action Items

Consider implementing the following action items as
part of your personalized strategy to improve the level
of employee engagement within your team.

(1) Consistent Communication & Feedback

Develop formal channels of communication between teams and create opportunities to use them. In addition, have team leaders routinely conduct informal check-ins with direct reports. Confirm the messaging being delivered and solicit feedback and any questions or concerns from the team.

(2) Provide Meaningful Work

Employees that work with a sense of purpose and meaning are much more likely to be productive and engaged with the company. Actively encourage employees to share their interests and what their motivations are. Set challenging goals to inspire them while articulating how their efforts connect to a broader organizational purpose.

(3) Create a Plan for Career Development

Growth and development are highly valued by employees. Discuss team members’ career paths and their personal goals at the organization. Periodically review their development and provide updates on their progress. Address gaps in skills by providing the required training and development.

(4) Focus on Culture

Culture can be difficult to pin down, however the benefits of a positive culture include improved collaboration, productivity, and a boost in morale. This makes it invaluable even if it can seem intangible. With employees spending so much time together, it is important to foster a positive culture that brings out their best consistently.
